The Sabine Parish School Board is happy to announce a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with the Sabine Parish Sheriff to fund eight (8) School Resource Officers for our schools. Presently the Sheriff provides three (3) officers, that rotate among schools; the Sheriff will now provide four (4) officers. The school board will fund four (4) additional officers. The City of Zwolle has been providing an officer for Zwolle Schools and will continue to do so. These officers will cover each school community and SPARK (the alternative program). One officer will be available where needed and cover absences. At this time the Many Campuses will share an officer and the Zwolle campuses will continue to share an officer. Hopefully, in the future, we can add officers for those campuses. The Sheriff is working to get officers trained and in place to begin the school year in August 2019. Two of the new officers will be added this school year.
The Cooperative Endeavor Agreement will be a one year agreement, and will be considered at budget time, each year, depending on available funds. The Sheriff will do the hiring, training, purchase any related equipment, and will invoice the school board for our portion.
We are very appreciative of the cooperation of the Sheriff and The City of Zwolle in working with us to provide daily protection for our students and staff.
