GardenGuides - This site provides basic fact sheets in five categories: Annuals; Bulbs; Perennials; Vegetables; or Herbs. Each sheet includes the common and scientific name, describes the plant's characteristics, and offers planting and care suggestions; many include an attractive photograph, and the herb sheets include medicinal uses. There are articles on various topics, e.g., container gardening, vegetable companions, planting for butterflies. There are links to related resources from many of the sheets and articles, a free e-mail newsletter, and a forum. Searchable and has a topical index to articles.
