Between
the Lions - This is for teachers of early readers and pre-readers,
ages four to seven. Have you seen the PBS television series "Between the
Lions" which helps young children learn to read? WGBH Boston just
launched the companion website, which also works work well just by
itself. It provides the text of the original stories, along with
several games and activities for children--all meant to spur interest in
words, sentence structure, and other aspects of early literacy.

Hide-and-Seek Lesson Explaining abstract concepts to young
children can be made easier by involving the kids in activities. This
lesson plan helps teach kindergarten students the concept of animal
hibernation by having them hide nuts and later try to find them. As
part of this lesson, students also observe and record different
weather conditions.
