It is sometimes difficult for teachers to participate in professional development activities due to time, distance to training, release time during the school day, etc. Region VI is offering math teachers an alternative to attending face to face workshops. Region VI has contracted with Classroom Connect to make available subscriptions to its Connected University for one year. These technology related professional development courses can be accessed from home or school, any time of day or night.
The numbers of courses math teachers may participate are unlimited, but each participating teacher must complete a minimum of two online courses within the year. Elaine Smith, Region VI TLTC Facilitator will monitor each participant’s involvement in the courses. Upon successful completion of two online courses, teachers will be given a set of math software appropriate for his/her grade level. In addition, Sabine will provide a notebook computer.
The online courses replaces the Region VI Math Intech workshops that conducted last school year and summer. Sabine is allotted 18 subscriptions (participants).
