SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION INFORMATION

APPLYING FOR AN EPSILON STATE SCHOLARSHIP

  1. A current application form must be used. This form may be obtained from the State Scholarship Chairman, your Chapter President.

  2. An applications and letters of recommendation must be postmarked no later than January 15. These are sent to the Chairman of the State Scholarship Committee:

    The original and six (6) copies of the application form are required
  4. Three letters of recommendation are required and should be mailed directly to the State Scholarship Chairman. One letter is from the chapter president and two other persons who can evaluate the applicant’s service. One of these should not be an educator.
  5. The committee is interested in an applicant’s character and special abilities as well as her contributions to school, to the community, and to Delta Kappa Gamma.
  6. All parts of the application must be completed.
  7. The school designated on the application must offer graduate work in the applicant’s field of study, and the applicant must be qualified for entrance thereto.
  8. Scholarships are awarded for the summer, fall, and spring semesters following the Epsilon State Convention. Since the convention is in March, the first available award is for the summer semester.

NOTIFICATION OF SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

  1. Applicants will receive notification by March 1.
  2. Within one week, successful candidates must notify the State Scholarship Chairman writing of their acceptance or rejection.
  3. When sufficient funds are available and there are qualified applicants, the State Scholarship Committee is empowered to award one or more additional scholarships.

PAYMENT TO RECIPIENTS

  1. When registration at the chosen college or university is complete, the recipient will send a letter from the Registrar verifying her registration to the Chairman of the Scholarship Committee.
  2. Then the Chairman sends the necessary paperwork to the State Treasurer requesting that a check be issued.
  3. In the event that the recipient is unable to use the scholarship funds awarded her, she should return them to the State Treasurer with a letter of explanation.
  4. A copy of the letter should be sent to the State Scholarship Committee Chairman.
  5. The recipient is then eligible to submit another application at a later date, if she desires.
  6. Scholarships are valid only for the semester awarded.
  7. Please read and adhere to the following guidelines carefully.
  8. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
  9. A complete application includes the original and six copies and three letters of recommendation.

SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FROM EPSILON STATE

(Please note the special requirements that apply to some.)

EPSILON STATE SCHOLARSHIPS FUNDS

The following funds are available for the eleven state scholarships each year.

$2500 for doctoral study

$1000 for post-doctoral study

$2400 for two semesters of study as a full time student

$2000 + fees for the Travel / Study stipend

$1200 for one semester of study as a full time student

$1000 for a summer session in which 5 or more credits are earned

$ 500 for a summer session in which 1 - 4 credit hours are earned

$ 500 for one semester of study as a part time student

These fees can be earned in combination with each other. For example:

$1000 for full time summer school

$ 500 for part time fall study

$ 500 for part time spring study

$2000 Total
